How do I book?
Use the
contact page to give as much information as you can about your requirements. You will then be sent a customised quote for your booking. This will be based on Steve’s average fee of £475 but will vary depending on distance from London, day of the week, time of year etc.
If you decide to go ahead, you will need to pay a deposit by cheque or credit/debit card within seven days. The balance can either be paid in advance or on the day of your event.
Can I see Steve perform live before booking?
The
video should give you a good idea of the quality which you can expect from Steve. However, most of Steve’s performances are for corporate or private functions, which are closed to the general public, so it isn’t usually possible to see him live before you book.
How long is the performance?
The entire show lasts for a minimum of 1 hour and 15 minutes. It comprises 2 sets of 30 minutes with a 15 – 20 minute interval. Do ask if you need a longer interval. Also, Steve can provide recorded music of an appropriate style to play through the interval, but you need to request this at time of booking.
Will the performance allow for guests to chat?
Do let us know if you're booking Steve for background music for a dinner or similar event, where you expect your guests to be talking throughout, and Steve will set sound levels accordingly.
Can we choose our songs?
You can check the
Song List and select your favourites and Steve will do his best to include as many of these as he can, although it may not always be possible to include them all.
If you want one specific song (for example for a first dance), Steve will do his best to accommodate this for no extra charge, as long as the song will work with his repertoire and the request is made in good time. If, however, you want a less well-known song that it is unlikely he would ever perform again, he may charge an extra fee to cover the rehearsal time and acquisition of backing track.
Will we need to provide any equipment?
Steve provides his own sound and basic stage lighting equipment, which is adequate for most venues.
Do we need to have a stage?
A raised stage is good, but as long as you can provide a reasonable performance area, this is enough.
How long do you need to set up the show?
We generally need an hour to an hour and a half to unload, set up and do a sound-check. However, do let us know if parking is not available close to the performance area or is likely to pose particular problems (e.g. any stairs to negotiate) so extra time can be allowed.
Do we need to provide anything else?
As Steve is a self-contained act, you will need to provide very little. However, the following will help you prepare for your event.
- Performance area
The performance area should have at least two independent, domestic-style 13-amp plug sockets reasonably close by and a small table to accommodate a portable sound system.
- Food and drink
For evening bookings, we ask you to provide meals for Steve and his accompanying assistant, either before the performance or during the interval. This doesn’t have to be the same meal as your guests, but should be something more substantial than sandwiches and crisps. If your venue can’t provide a meal, you will be asked to provide a meal subsidy of £20. Please also provide water or soft drinks, within reason. A meal is not expected for afternoon events, but water, tea or soft drinks would be appreciated.
- Changing area
You need to provide a private room reasonably close to the performance area where Steve can change and prepare. Ideally, this should contain a mirror and chairs.
